Daily Hawks News (11.13.2014)

Bo Churney of Hawks Hoop: “Paul Millsap needs to undergo a name change. The Hawks starting forward had a slight wardrobe malfunction on Wednesday night, which saw his jersey initially misspell his last name as “Milsap”. His jersey was replaced with a correct one before the first quarter ended, but the damage had been done and this would forever be the night that Paul was known as “Milsap”. He made sure that the fans would not forget it either, as Millsap had recorded a double-double by halftime, recorded a huge dunk that ended up on Sportscenter’s Top 10 Plays, and finished with a monster stat line of 30 points, 17 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks to lead the Hawks to a 100-97 victory over the Utah Jazz.”

Dan Devine of Yahoo! Sports Ball Don’t Lie: “The Atlanta Hawks forward became the latest NBA player victimized by a lack of attention to detail from his team’s equipment staff, coming out for Wednesday’s matchup with the Utah Jazz sporting a single L on the back of his jersey. The Hawks did get things fixed up in short order, but not before the Jazz — for whom Millsap played during the first seven years of his pro career — had a bit of fun with their opponents on social media”

Brad Rowland of Peachtree Hoops: “For the majority of the night, the Atlanta Hawks did not play well, particularly on the defensive end. However, the team managed to perform with resolve down the stretch, and with the help of a monster game from Paul Millsap, the Hawks escaped with a 100-97 victory over the Utah Jazz. The first quarter was marked by hot shooting on both sides, and the visiting Jazz got off to a blazing start by making 11 of their first 14 field goals to take a 25-20 lead within the first nine minutes. Atlanta would respond, however, as Kyle Korver knocked down two threes in the midst of an 8-0 run to take the lead, and the two teams traded baskets on the way to a 32-32 result at the end of the 12 minutes. The Hawks struggled visibly in containing the Jazz defensively, but the offense was clicking in matching Utah with 64% shooting (14-for-22) on both sides.”
