Daily Hawks News (10.23.2014)

DeAntae Price of Sporting News: The Atlanta Hawks have hired Goldman Sachs and Inner Circle Sports to help them sell the team, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. While the exact percentage available remains unknown, the 50.1 percent stake owned by former owner Bruce Levenson and his Washington group is in the equation, the AJC reports.

Associated Press: Jeff Teague scored 21 points and the Atlanta Hawks closed their preseason schedule with a resounding 117-107 victory over the defending champion San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night. Mike Scott added 19 points while Kyle Korver had 18 for Atlanta (4-3), which shot 52 percent from the field.

Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution: NBA.com conducted its annual survey of general managers and Hawks starting shooting guard Kyle Korver was recognized in several categories. Korver ranked second, behind the Warriors Stephen Curry, as the best pure shooter in the league. Curry got 60.7 percent of the vote and Korver finished with 28.8 percent. They were the clear leaders with Ray Allen, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson also receiving votes.

Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution: Make no mistake, the Hawks signed Kent Bazemore for his defense. While that will be his main role with the team, the guard is showing his new coaches and teammates that there is more to his game. It’s a slow process as he battles back from offseason foot surgery and reconstructs his jump shot.
