Daily Hawks News (11.07.2014)

Jeff Siegel of Hawks Hoop: “The Hawks lost a nail-biter in San Antonio on Wednesday night, coming up short on the final possession of the game in a 92-90 loss. The loss marks Atlanta’s eighth consecutive loss to the Spurs, who rode their huge rebounding and free throw disparities to the win. The Spurs shot 38 free throws to the Hawks’ 11, though San Antonio left a lot of points at the stripe with 11 misses. The Hawks were down as many as 17 in the first half and fought back to take a late lead, but couldn’t find the winning touch despite a great night from DeMarre Carroll, who had 17 points on 7-for-13 shooting to go along with five rebounds.”

Chris Vivlamore of the AJC: “The Hawks may soon turn to the NBA Development League to help with a crowded roster and to get playing time for young players. The Hawks currently have the 15-player roster maximum. That includes John Jenkins, Mike Muscala and Adreian Payne, all of whom have yet to play a minute this season. Jenkins, the third-year guard coming off back surgery, is healthy but has been inactive all three games.”

Jared Johnson of Bleacher Report: “The Atlanta Hawks have started the 2014-15 regular season with a 1-1 record. The team lost its first contest in Toronto to the Raptors 109-102 on October 29 and won its home opener on November 1 against the Indiana Pacers 102-92. Neither the Hawks’ overall performance nor their record screams “good,” “bad” or “ugly”—”average” would be the most appropriate word. But certain players and team-wide trends have been better or worse than advertised.”
