Bo Churney of Hawks Hoop: “This game was a blowout, meaning there is very little to talk about and discuss from it, so excuse me while I have a little fun with this one. The Hawks dominated the Hornets on Saturday night in Philips Arena, with a final score of 105-75. And really, the game was not even that close. The Hawks were up 80-36 at one point in the third quarter before they finally pulled the starters. For those that missed the game, here’s a visual representation of how it went down”
Matt Winkeljohn of the AJC: “The Hawks played basketball the way their head coach wants Saturday night, and now the standard set in the first five minutes or so of the second quarter against the Hornets will be there shoot for — perhaps forever. That 17-2 run, which expanded Atlanta’s lead to 45-19, was worthy of any hoops hall of fame – especially for reserve players. Backup guard Dennis Schroder hit two 3-point shots and scored eight points in that span, and sub forward Mike Scott scored seven points with a trey of his own.”
James Bradbury of iSportsWeb: “Atlanta Hawks point guard Jeff Teague has long been a promising player with all the tools required to be an elite guard in the National Basketball Association. But until this year he’s been just that: a promising player, but not an elite guard. Something has changed though in his game, and his play of late has been nothing short of superb. Jeff Teague, Atlanta Hawks Teague is having a career year in several standard statistical categories (points: 18.9 per game, field goal percentage: .481, free throws attempted: 6.3 per game, and assists: 7.2 per game), and is among the league leaders in the more advanced metrics used for precise player valuations.”
