Nubyjas Wilborn of Hawks Hoop: “Jeff Teague and the Atlanta Hawks fought valiantly in their 126-115 loss against the Toronto Raptors. Teague scored 24 points on 7-for-14 shooting. He also dished out 12 assists. But he also had to guard Kyle Lowry, who had 13 assists to go along with 14 points. On a night where the Hawks had five players in double digits, they lost to a now 13-2 Raptors team that had seven guys in double digits. It felt like an 80’s Western Conference game on Wednesday night. Games like this while being a learning tool for the Hawks should also be a sign that East is no longer the sisters of the poor.”
Chris Vivlamore of the AJC: “Jeff Teague doesn’t like to talk about his individual accomplishments. However, his body of work is speaking volumes for the Hawks point guard. Teague had 24 points and 12 assists in a loss to the Raptors on Wednesday. That tied him with Joe Johnson, with 18, for sixth on the Hawks’ all-time list of players with at least 20 points and 10 assists in a game. He trails only franchise luminaries Mookie Blaylock (24), Pete Maravich (22), Jason Terry (22), Eddie Johnson (21) and Lenny Wilkens (21).”
Brad Rowland of Peachtree Hoops: “The Atlanta Hawks ran into a buzzsaw in the form of the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night, but the team will need to bounce back in a big way on Friday, as they host the New Orleans Pelicans. As you may know by this point, New Orleans is led by Anthony Davis, who is putting together a strong MVP campaign in the early going. The 21-year-old Davis is averaging 25.4 points, 11.2 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game on the season, and given his enormous upside, the Hawks will surely be accounting for him in multiple ways. It will be interesting to see the initial deployment defensively against him (Al Horford? Paul Millsap?), but throughout the night, the Pelicans will run everything through Davis.”
