According to Ryen Russillo of ESPN, the Atlanta Hawks are trying to find a way to jump into the Ray Allen Sweepstakes that’s expected to conclude soon after the All-Star Break.
Here’s the tweet from Russillo on the matter:
Hearing Atlanta trying to get in the Ray Allen mix. Cleveland still the favorite. Look for decision after All-Star break.

Although the Cleveland Cavaliers are still listed as the favorites for Allen’s services, the Hawks rise to the top of the Eastern Conference one would figure has to be intriguing former Connecticut Husky.
According to RealGM, the Washington Wizards, Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Memphis Grizzlies and the Chicago Bulls are also in play for Ray.
For the Hawks, adding Allen wouldn’t move the needle in the regular season, but having him around come playoff time could be very valuable, not just for his 3-point stroke, but for the veteran leadership he could provide for a team that doesn’t have a lot of experience going far in the postseason.
Still, it’s very hard to say “no” to LeBron James, so I wouldn’t get too excited about the possibility of seeing Ray Allen in an Atlanta Hawks uniform just yet.
